Do you struggle to slow down and make time to conn

Do you struggle to slow down and make time to connect with yourself even though you know how good it will feel afterwards?

Do you experience this paradox?

We tend to choose what feels urgent over what restores us.

This week I’m immersed in a week of Feldenkrais training. It’s an opportunity for me to slow down. There was a bit of a lightbulb moment.

Even though I teach and understand the benefits of slowing down — doing small, mindful movement practices, connecting with yourself — I still struggle to make the time.

And yet, when you do, something shifts.
The body begins to let go of tension.
You feel clearer.
You learn something new about yourself.

For me, it’s often teaching, admin, marketing, other commitments. I tend to de-prioritise these moments of self-care.

Have you ever noticed standing on one leg feels harder than it used to?

The moment you wobble,
your brain decides something is wrong.

Even I wobbled here during this week’s live practice — distracted for a second 🙂

If you’ve ever had that quiet thought —
“Why is this suddenly harder?”

You’re not alone.

Wobbling isn’t the problem.
Panic is.

Many of us respond by gripping.
Holding our breath.
Trying harder.

That often makes things less steady.

When we pause… sense… and reorganise, the nervous system adapts surprisingly quickly.

You don’t rebuild confidence by eliminating wobble.
You rebuild it by changing how you respond to wobble.
